How do we recognise a Human? Voyages out of the Automaton of Culture

with Lucia D' Errico

-

Lucia D’Errico understands Artistic Research as a mode of knowledge production that can radically problematise the relationship between man and non-man. If a human agent can be defined through its very capacity to sever itself from its environment, of creating dichotomic distinctions between an outside and an inside, an object and a subject, then the “outside” is always already endogenously encompassed by the human “as the question of everything.” Herein lies a core difficulty of the relationship between man and non-man: One has to rethink the “outside the human” in terms that undermine the very relationship between inside and outside, subject and object, question and answer. In her morning lecture, the musician and artistic researcher Lucia D’Errico will discuss the potential of Artistic Research with the participants.
