Christine Büchner

Christine Büchner is Deputy Director of the Academy of World Religions in Hamburg. She studied Catholic Theology, Latin Philology, German Studies and Indology. Received her doctorate in Frankfurt am Main with a systematic-theological work on the concept of creation by Meister Eckhart. She was awarded the Karl Rahner Prize for theological research in 2004 and the John Templeton Award for Theological Promise in 2007. Since 2008 she is a member of the extended board of the Meister-Eckhart-Society. In 2008 she habilitated in the fields of Dogmatics and Ecumenical Theology in Tübingen and subsequently worked as a student advisor and private lecturer. 2014 she rejected a call for a professorship for systematic theology in Koblenz and accepted an appointment as professor of Catholic Theology at the University of Hamburg.
