Univ.-Prof. Dr. Joachim Bauer is a neuroscientist, physician, and psychotherapist. After having studied medicine in Freiburg im Breisgau and whilst doing his specialist medical training, he worked in the field of genetic research, first focussing on the genes of the immune system and later on the genes of the brain. Prof. Bauer is a specialist in internal medicine and psychiatry; he qualified as a university lecturer in both subjects. Prof. Bauer was awarded with the renowned Organon-Prize by the ‘Deutsche Gesellschaft für Biologische Psychiatrie’ (German Association for Biological Psychiatry) for his outstanding research which he also conducted at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC, USA. In his well-received books, including several bestsellers, Joachim Bauer explains the importance of modern brain research for education, partnership and family, for life in the workplace and for the preservation of our health. His best-known titles include "Das Gedächtnis des Körpers," "Warum ich fühle was du fühlst," "Prinzip Menschlichkeit," "Schmerzgrenze," and "Wie wir werden, wer wir sind." His latest book, "Fühlen, was die Welt fühlt," is dedicated to the alienated relationship between humanity and nature. After successful years at the University of Freiburg, Prof. Bauer now lives, teaches, and works in Berlin.
