Scholarship for the GLOBART Academy 2021 SINN

The GLOBART-Academy is an annual meeting place for visionaries, initiators and re-thinkers, who come together from various backgrounds and disciplines, science, art, philosophy, economics, and politics, in order to develop tools and ideas to design a better future.

For this year’s Academy, which is the final year of the triad “LEBEN.MACHT.SINN” (“LIFE.MAKES.SENSE”), GLOBART wants to open the concept of “monastery” as a place of retreat in favour of a space for collective contemplation and discussion in Melk Abbey and thus devote itself to the question of the meaning of life.

Your ideas are important to us. Therefore, GLOBART – the think tank for issues regarding the future – awards scholarships once more. We want to enable young people to exchange ideas with scientists, artists and initiators in order to support their own ideas and projects – in order for them to become a part of our strategic network. The scholarship includes the participation fee for the entire Academy as well as free accommodation and meals for three days in Melk.

The scholarship programme, supported by Martha Wanat and Prof. Dr. Stephan A. Jansen, is dedicated to the future of cities since they form the problems and are their own solution at the same time. What can a climate-neutral society of the future look like? What do clever and collaborative urban and district developments look like? Are smart, digitally supported cities with autonomous systems the solution – and what problems do they bring along with them? In short: Which city do you want to live in? Health, mobility, real estate, education, agriculture, and infrastructure between streets and houses – all these are potential foci you can develop together.

Step by step, visionaries and initiators put their ideas into practice. You too are to join in redrawing the city of tomorrow – our spaces of action, our everyday-lives and the meaning of our existence. Become part of those re-thinkers, who lead us a little further into the future.

This year’s participants include Tino Sehgal, Markus Gabriel, Peter Sloterdijk, Ariadne von Schirach, Franz Welser-Möst, Arno Böhler, Rebecca Böhme, Joachim Bauer, Melanie Wolfers, Stephan A. Jansen, Martha Wanat, and Max Neufeind.

Applications are closed. We are looking forward to an exciting and successful scholarship-programme.
